Tommi Tolvanen, founder of Detaljee Oy, is currently designing an extension to his home in Espoo, where the bathroom has become one of the project’s most important spaces. It combines functionality, aesthetics and a thoughtfully curated palette of materials.

Who are you, and what do you do?
I’m Tommi Tolvanen, an experienced interior designer and the founder of Detaljee Oy. I design homes and commercial spaces across the Helsinki metropolitan area, always tailoring each project to the client’s needs. Every project is unique, and my goal is to create spaces that are both highly functional and visually refined.
How did you end up choosing a REJ Design towel warmer?
The decision came from several directions at once, but above all from practical needs and the intended use. As an interior designer, I always advise clients to first consider how the towel warmer will be used. If it’s intended for drying laundry as well as towels, it’s worth choosing a model with horizontal bars and suitable accessories.
In our bathroom, the towel warmer will only be used for towels, so I wanted a model that allows towels to hang naturally and dry efficiently. The vertical bars of REJ Design’s Vivo model are perfect for that purpose.
Why did you choose the KULO finish?
The choice of finish was guided by the overall material palette of the space. The bathroom tiles established the colour direction, and I was immediately drawn to the KULO finish because of its warm, deep brown tone and beautifully textured surface.
We’re also using heat-treated pine on the ceiling and in the sauna, so KULO complements the warm grey tiles perfectly. Together, the materials create a harmonious and timeless interior.
